EDDIE
BO & INEZ CHEATHAM
Lover And A Friend
(Capitol P-2150; 1967)
This is the major label version of a 45 released locally in New Orleans
on Seven-B (bottom right). This green label promo 45 (left) was used by Shadow in
Brainfreee, as soon in The Last Brainfreeze footage. The 45 also
exists in the Capitol stock yellow/orange swirl (in two known variations,
possibly due to being pressed at different plants). "Inez Cheatham" is actually New Orleans
vocalist Mary Jane Hooper.
The intro break has been sampled by Luscious
Jackson ("Keep On Rockin'") and more recently heard in
television commercials for UPS, Tampax, and in the theme to the U.S. TV
show Blind Date.
